LeBron James, in a day of unparalleled thirst for victory, transformed into sharpshooter Stephen Curry, sinking 9 three-pointers in a game.

Hitting 9 three-pointers out of 10 attempts in a single game is not a statistic commonly associated with LeBron James, but rather with Stephen Curry or other long-range specialists in the NBA.

Yet once again, LeBron has shown how great and versatile he is. At the age of 39, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar just had a game where he hit 9 three-pointers, scoring a total of 40 points to lead the purple and gold to a 116-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

Scoring 40 points with 9 successful three-pointers against the Brooklyn Nets, LeBron James tied his career-high mark for three-pointers made in a game. However, unlike the 9-14 3PT performance before (against the LA Clippers in the 2022-23 season), LeBron was much more efficient this time with a staggering 90% success rate, hitting 9-10 3PT.

Now, James becomes the second player in Los Angeles Lakers history to hit the 9 three-pointers mark in a single game. The late legend Kobe Bryant remains the only other player to achieve this feat with four such games.

Moreover, LeBron joins the ranks of the legendary Michael Jordan as two rare names in NBA history with multiple 40-point games at the age of 39 or older. While James has had 2 such games, Jordan has had 3.

Alongside LeBron James’ stellar performance, the Los Angeles Lakers received consistent contributions from all other four starters.

Anthony Davis recorded a double-double with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Rui Hachimura contributed 20 points and 10 rebounds. D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves scored 18 and 12 points respectively.

An interesting aspect of this game was the near invisibility of the Lakers’ bench lineup. Out of the 116 points scored in total, the starting five contributed 114 points.

Rare contributions from the bench came from Gabe Vincent, a shooter returning after a five-month hiatus due to knee injury.

LeBron James and the starting lineup combined for 114 out of the total 116 points scored by the Los Angeles Lakers in this game.

Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James Drops Truth on Evolving His 3-Point Shot

Despite being slightly overshadowed in scoring by the bench unit, the Los Angeles Lakers still secured a relatively comfortable victory over the Brooklyn Nets in this match.

LeBron James and his teammates started the first half with a 17-0 scoring run, holding the Brooklyn Nets scoreless for over 6 minutes before ending the first quarter with a score of 31-11.

From there, the Lakers encountered no further issues except for a slight hiccup in the third quarter, cruising to a 12-point victory.

This result marks the Los Angeles Lakers’ sixth win in their last seven games, bringing their overall record to 42-33 and placing them ninth in the Western Conference standings. Just above the Lakers are the Phoenix Suns and the Sacramento Kings, both with identical records of 43-31.
