Selena Gomez is a multi-talented artist, international pop star, Emmy-nominated actress, and beauty mogul. However, she seems to be less interested in her music career.

According to CNN, Selena Gomez shared on the podcast Smartless on January 1 (local time) that acting is her ideal focus.

Music Career Might Be Taking a Backseat

“I really feel like I have one more album in me. The older I get, the more I like something stable,” the singer of “Lose you to love me” said.

Since childhood, Selena Gomez has had the goal of becoming “a serious actress.”

Her music career came unexpectedly when Disney expressed interest in creating an album for Selena Gomez, alongside her starring role in Wizards of Waverly Place in the late 2000s.

Selena Gomez said: “I want to be an actress. I never intended to be a full-time singer.”

Also in the podcast, Selena Gomez said that switching between music and acting has taken a toll, especially on her mental health.

While the singer of “Same old love” acknowledges that there is nothing forcing her to choose between music and acting, she thinks one of the two will appear independently in the future. Selena Gomez wants to relax because she is tired.

Plans to Retire but Still Releases Music

This is not the first time the American artist has talked about retiring from music. Previously, in an interview with Vogue magazine in 2021, Selena Gomez said she wanted to stop singing to focus on acting and taking a break.

She shared: “I think there are a lot of people who have enjoyed my music and I’m so grateful for that but I think the next time I do an album it will be different. I’m going to try it one last time before I say goodbye to music.”

The story was quickly forgotten when Selena Gomez collaborated with the British band Coldplay on the song “Let somebody go” in February 2022.

In August, Selena Gomez was featured in the remix of Nigerian artist Rema’s song “Calm down.” The song became an international hit, reaching number three on the Billboard Global 200 chart and number eight on the Billboard Hot 100. At the end of last year, she released a single called “Single Soon.”

In addition to pursuing music and acting, Selena Gomez also founded a cosmetics company in 2020. She said: “I launched it during the pandemic and it’s been successful, I’m so proud and grateful.”
