Roger Federer visited the new Childhood and Adolescence House (CAH) earlier today to participate in the official unveiling of the building, part of the Geneva University Hospital.
Federer was also representing the Laver Cup, which donated 100,000 CHF following the Geneva edition of the event to fund the sports equipment of a new CAH multipurpose hall.
The CAH is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility that provides medical and psychiatric care for children and young adults up to the age of 25. In designing the facility, the Geneva University Hospital wanted to place participation in sport, amongst other aspects, at the heart of the patients’ therapeutic care and as a result have built a large multipurpose hall for a variety of sports and physical activities including gymnastics, football, volleyball, basketball, archery, table tennis, and street tennis.
“It’s my pleasure to be here in Geneva today to officially open this fantastic new sports hall and I very much hope the thousands of children and teenagers that visit will enjoy all the benefits that sport has to offer in terms of both improving their physical and mental wellness,” said Federer.
Roger Federer enjoys a game of table tennis at the new Childhood and Adolescence House, that will provide medical and psychiatric care for children and young adults up to the age of 25.
As well as serving young people’s medical needs, the CAH will be a world-class health education centre and give patients access to cultural, artistic and sports activities. The hall will also be open to school children and the wider Geneva community for weekly sports activities.
“The Laver Cup aims to support community initiatives that impact the lives of children in every city that we visit,” added Laver Cup Chairman and CEO of TEAM8, Tony Godsick.
“The CAH is a wonderful initiative for the community, and the Laver Cup organization is proud to be involved and support this important project for Geneva.”
