In an interview from 2017, Vonn recalled having met the retired tennis player after years of watching him perform and inspire as an athlete.
“Meeting him after watching him for so many years, and seeing how humble he is and how much of a philanthropist he is, those are the kinds of things that I want to carry out in my life and in my career as well.” (via Tennis Majors)
In a recent Instagram post by Federer, he was seen delivering a speech packed with life lessons. His winning speech touched upon the following points: ‘Effortless is a myth’. ‘It’s only a point’ and ‘Life is bigger than the court’.
“Effortless is a myth. I didn’t get where I got on pure talent alone. I got there by trying to outwork my opponents… Most of the time, it’s not about having a gift, it’s about having grit..when you’re playing a point, it has to be the most important thing in the world.. when it’s behind you, it’s behind you…”
