Even the best of friends can turn into the bitterest of enemies at times – just ask 50 Cent.

The ‘In da Club’ musician fell out with his BFF Floyd Mayweather following the boxer’s release from prison.

Rather than leave the heavy hitter alone though, the 47-year-old decided to troll Mayweather with a hilarious and now-iconic video.

The bitter feud began back when 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, claimed that Mayweather owed him money.

The ongoing spat moved online where it became an instant source of memes back in 2014.

At the same time, the ice bucket challenge had begun to go viral with celebs dowsing themselves in ice to raise awareness of motor neurone disease and nominating others to do likewise.

Rather than asking the championship boxer to tip ice over his head, 50 Cent asked that he read one page of Harry Potter after claiming Mayweather couldn’t read.

In the now-infamous clip, the 47-year-old told the athlete: “If you can read one full page of a Harry Potter book n***a, I’ll give $750,000 to whatever charitable organisation you want.”

Sadly though, Mayweather politely declined the offer and ignored the rapper’s request to read about the boy wizard.

During a press conference for his fight with Marcos Maidana, he hit back at Fiddy’s comments and said: “I just feel like things happen, you know? You live and you learn.

“Anything that is negative or not true, that said about Floyd Mayweather, it just makes my story that much better.”

While his response may have been well thought through, it didn’t stop Jimmy Kimmel from allegedly getting in on the joke.

In a follow-up video, Fifty claimed that he spoke with the talk-show host and even revealed they wanted Mayweather to do the skit live.

50 Cent told fans: “Jimmy said if Floyd accepts the challenge, then he’ll put in on the actual show, so you can read it on his show.

“We don’t wanna put pressure on you, we know you can’t pronounce those words in that Harry Potter book, so we’re gonna let you read Cat In The Hat.”

Ouch.

With friends like these, Mayweather doesn’t need enemies, but thankfully the pair have stopped duking it out – according to the musician.

During an interview last year with The Breakfast Club, the rapper even revealed that he and his former BBF had hung out in Vegas together.

Guess these two really beat the odds.
