Lil Wayne hasn’t had the best 2016, with things taking a turn for the worst when he recently hit a breaking point, tweeting that he was “done” and hinting at an early retirement.
The rapper’s announcement came as a shock to many of his fans and fellow entertainers, with the likes of Young Thug and Kendrick Lamar expressing their support for the rapper, while also begging him to reconsider his drastic decision.
Now that the news of the possibility he’s quitting rap music has settled a little, Lil Wayne is openly discussing the situation at hand and it all comes down to one (non-surprising) factor: Birdman.
As reported, Lil Wayne denied the rumors that he’s retiring but did make one thing crystal clear. Weezy will never, ever work with Birdman again and the possibility of the two former associates making amends simply does not exist. Considering their beef has gone on for what feels like ages now, we can’t help but believe him.
In a new interview on Undisputed, Wayne shared that it doesn’t matter how much money is on the table, he will be discontinuing his working relationship with the Cash Money boss the millisecond their lawsuit is settled.
“This is business,” Weezy explains. “Once business is involved… I have a family, I have kids, I have a mother, we got bills. Once the business is right, then everything is right.”
The rapper then addressed his somewhat cryptic tweet where he admitted he was tired.
“I did feel that way, and I didn’t take the tweet down because I said I still feel that way,” Wayne continues. “Until something is done about it then maybe it’ll change.”
During the interview, Weezy explained that as far as he’s concerned, he’s retired until he gets paid what he is rightfully owed, and once that day comes, he’ll smile, walk free and make the music he wants to make again.
